Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
On behalf of the Churchwardens, Select Vestry and Parishioners of the Parish of Donaghcloney, I want to express our sincere, heartfelt and prayerful Sympathy to King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, and the entire Royal Family.
It was with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday past. The Church bell of Holy Trinity, Waringstown and that of St. Patrick’s, Donaghcloney sounded, the Union Flag was lowered to half-mast, Books of Condolence have been opened, and special Daily Offices are being said for the King and in memory of the Late Queen.
The tremendous and sincere faith, which Queen Elizabeth II expressed, confessed and lived by, fills us with the hope and assurance, which we find in the Scriptures. As a result of her devoted faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we can echo the words of St. Paul “O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (1st Corinthians 15:55). Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been, and her testimony will continue to be, an inspiration to us all.
As we thank God for the life of Queen Elizabeth II, we look to Him for the future and add our own individual ‘Amen’ to that historical prayer of “God save the King”.
Yours in Christ
